In the yurt camp on the shore of lake Issyk Kul you can go for a swim in the clear blue water.
In the mountains you can go for a hike, ride a horse or pay a visit to the nomadic families who live in the mountain pastures during the summer.

About tour

On this 10-day programme you will visit the most beautiful parts of the country and become acquainted with the history and culture of the semi- nomads. In springtime all the fruit trees are blossoming and the grass is fresh and green, and in the autumn the tree colours are bright orange, red and yellow, with berries ready to be picked. You will stay in yurts, with local people and in guesthouses or hotels.

Transportation is by Mercedes minibus and an English or German speaking guide/interpreter will be with you for the whole tour. To fully enjoy this tour you need an adventurous spirit and the ability to improvise when necessary.

The trip will take you around Lake Issyk-Kul where you will meet a man who hunts with birds of prey, see the famous red rocks of the south shore, and visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and the Dugan Mosque in Karakol. On the north side of the lake you will see the petroglyphs, rock drawings of the Scythians made between the 11th and 3rd centuries B.C., and visit the new Nomad Museum that has an extensive collection of artifacts giving a good impression of Kyrgyz nomadic life.

Day By Day Programme

Here you can find a detailed description of the tour with routes and locations

  Day 1Departure from your local airport.
  Day 2Arrival at Manas Airport where you will be met and taken to your hotel in Bishkek. After lunch sightseeing in Bishkek, visit the historical museum. Stay in the Umai Hotel.
  Day 3Today we leave Bishkek, drive to  the south side of Lake Issyk-Kul . Near Tokmok we stop to visit the Burana Tower, a remnant of a town at the Silk Road. From here we drive to Sonun, a yurt camp at the border of the lake. It is located in the so- called “badlands”, eroded chalk/limestone hills. Stay in yurt.
  Day 4We leave Sonun, we drive up into the mountains, to the village Temir -Kanat where we will stay with a local family. In the afternoon time for a hike in the mountains.
  Day 5In Bokonbaevo we will stop to meet a man who hunts with golden eagles. He will show his birds and tell about his profession and the way he trains his birds for hunting. Next to the nice yurt camp Royal Gate. This yurt camp is very close to Skaska, (meaning Fairy Tale) where we can hike in the strange eroded Stay in yurt.
  Day 6We continue along the lake, visit Jeti Ogus one of the most beautiful gorges in Kyrgyzstan. Then another 35 km to Karakol, a nice town at the far east side of the lake. Stay in a guesthouse.
  Day 7Some sightseeing in Karakol next along the north side of the lake to Oruktu, a small village with an open-air hot spa, In Cholpon Ata we visit the archeological open-air museum to see petroglyphs, rock drawings from the Skytes. Before reaching Tamchy, we visit the Nomad Museum with a large collection of artifacts of Kyrgyz nomadic life. In Tamchy we stay in a guesthouse.
  Day 8Today return to Bishkek. In the Boom gorge a hike of a couple hours in the Konorchok canyons. Stay in hotel Umai.
  Day 9Today return to Bishkek. In the Boom gorge a hike of a couple hours in the Konorchok canyons. Stay in hotel Umai.
  Day 10Transfer to Manas Airport and departure.

If you have to cancel a tour you already booked, we have to charge you cancellation fee.
If Ecotour cancels the tour, of course you will get back the full amount you paid.
If you cancel your trip, depending on the time your message reaches us, you owe Ecotour the following amount:
