Trekking tour from Song-Kul to Issyk-Kul

Dates: July 8 - July 29 and August 11 - September 1, 2010

This 3-week tour is for people who like to experience the natural environment of Tian-Shan mountains at their own pace. Trekking tours are the best holidays when you have a good physical condition, are capable to cope with unpredictable situations and love nature. In the mountains you walk on "roads" made by nomads and animals centuries ago. You will cross 3 high passes (over 3500m), you will meet herdsmen who live with their family and herd in the alpine meadows during the summer months. This trekking tour is not easy to do but you will look back upon an unforgettable experience.

Walking days are usually between 5 to 8 hours. Our group consists of 4-8 people, 6-12 horses, guides and an interpreter. Our guides take all your luggage, the necessary equipment and food on horseback. During the trekking from Son-Kul to Tuura-Suu you will sleep in small tents, in the yurt camps you will spend the night either in yurts or in tents. You need a sleeping bag, isomat, warm clothes, rain-coat and very comfortable walking shoes.

The price includes everything from arrival at the airport till departure, except the flight, visa and alcoholic beverages. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking. Until the end of 2009 it is possible to buy a two way ticket for about 480 euro.

Itinerary:

The itinerary of both tours are not the same. The second trekking returns 1 day earlier so you will be in Bishkek at Independence Day, August 31.

Day 1	Departure.
Day 2	Arrival in Bishkek, after lunch visit Bishkek.
Day 3	Day trip to Ala-Archa National Park, walking in the mountains, getting used to the altitude. Stay in guesthouse in centre of Bishkek.
Day 4	Transport by car to Song-Kul (3100m ). Stay in yurt camp.
Day 5	Relax in yurt camp, adapting to the altitude, walking and/or horse riding in the area.
Days 6-15	Walking from Song-Kul to Tuura-Suu, three days are with pass crossings (3.300-3.500 m); average altitude - 3.000 m. Details of trip on request.
Day 16	Relax in yurt camp Tuura-Suu (2250 m).
Day 17	Walking from Tuura-Suu to Kara-Talaa, (1600 m) and then to Ak-Say (1600 m). Partly by car, partly on foot. It is easy walk down.
Day 18	Stay in Ak-Say at Lake Issyk-Kol, swimming.
Day 19	From Ak-Say to yurt camp Temir-Kanat (2450 m) by car and walking.
Day 20	Stay in Temir-Kanat, horse riding, hiking to glacier.
Day 21	From Temir-Kanat to Bishkek by car.
Day 22	Departure.

If you book for 4 persons or more, we offer 5% discount.

In case there are less then 4 participants for this tour, you are requested to pay an additional 150 euro p.p. to make this tour individually or with a small group.

Because of unforeseen circumstances, it might be necessary to make small changes in the program. We ask for your understanding.

This year again we offer thematic and adventurous programs. These tours are exclusively organised by Ecotour and offer a good impression of our way of life. This year we offer several new thematic tours. In a thematic tour, the leading theme is a specific activity, like f.i. bird watching or a special aspect of our culture like felt making of festivals. New is a tour in which legends and tales are the central theme, a festival tour and a drawing and painting tour accompanied by a Dutch art teacher. In spring, when all fruit trees are blooming, we organise a blossom tour in the Talas region and around lake Issuk-Kol.

The Kyrgyz have not forgotten that for centuries the horse was the most precious animal in their nomadic lives. Even these days many families consider horses still very important this makes Kyrgyzstan supremely suitable for horse riding. Ecotour offers a great variety of adventures tours. On foot, horseback or by bicycle you can discover the mountains of Tian-Shan. There are programs for 2 or 3 weeks, some more difficult then the others. Our tours are not only for small groups but several tours can also be done individually.

As most of our yurt camps in the mountains are situated above 2000 m. weather can change a couple times a day. Therefore, even in summer it is a necessity to bring warm clothes and rain gear.

Our cooks have been trained to cope with different diets. Even if you need to have gluten free meals, this is possible at several of our tours.

Trekking and horse riding tours are the perfect way to see the ranges of Tian-Shan mountains and the life of the Kyrgyz.
