Tour of two weeks through Tong region,

including a three day trekking and several hikes

Date: June 30. – July 14. and July 16. –July 31. 2010
Price: 1.250 euro p.p. (min. 4 persons)

During this tour you will travel through the beautiful mountains and alpine pastures of Kyrgyzstan. You will meet the culture, experience the everyday life of the nomads in Kyrgyzstan and sleep in yurts, the felt tent houses of the nomadic herdsmen. In the yurt camps you can make hikes into the high mountains, accompanied by a guide. Because you’ll return to the yurt camp in the evening you can decide for yourself how far you would like to go. If you want to stay put in the yurt camp that is no problem either.

During the trekking of 3 days you will walk from Tosor to Temir-Kanat. This hike is not extremely difficult. You will walk through a hilly area at an altitude between 2200- 2400 m. On the third day of your trek you will arrive at Temir-Kanat at 2450 m. During the trek you will sleep in small tents which will be taken along on horseback, as will your luggage. An interpreter, guide and horsemen will accompany you.

Further, it is possible to walk part of the route to Tuura-suu and Ak-Say, other yurt camps you will visit during this tour. The last part of the trip to Tuura-Suu you can walk alongside a small river. From Temir-Kanat you can walk down to the village and next over a grass plateau in the direction of the lake. Whether you will do this or go by car is up to you.

In Bishkek, your accommodation is in a small nice guesthouse, on the countryside you will pass the night in family-run yurt camps. During the whole tour you will be accompanied by an English speaking interpreter.

This tour suits people who are interested in the nomadic way of life and the culture of the Kyrgyz people. For the hikes you need a good physical condition. About 4-6 hours walking a day in mountainous terrain should be in your range of possibilities. We expect you to be a little adventurous, and to not expect luxury.

Everything is included in the tour price with the exception of the flight, visa and bottled beverages and one lunch in Bishkek. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking. Until the end of 2009 it is possible to buy a two way ticket for about 480 euro.

Program

Day 1	Departure.
Day 2	Arrival in Bishkek. Sightseeing in the afternoon.
Day 3	By car to yurt camp Tuura-Suu op 2200 m. The last part of this route you can do on foot (15 km).
Day 4-5	Leisure days in Tuura-Suu, getting used to time difference and altitude. Beside hiking, it is also possible to do some horse riding or to learn how to ride.
Day 6	Start of the 3 day trekking. To the starting point in Tosor by car.
Day 7-8	Hiking through a variety of landscapes, at the third day you will arrive in the Temir-Kanat yurt camp.
Day 9-10	Leisure day in Temir-Kanat, alt. 2450 m. Optional walks into the high mountains.
Day 11	From Temir-Kanat to Ak-Say (1600 m), partly on foot, partly by car.
Day 12	Leisure day in Ak-Say, hiking to a salt lake at a distance of 12 km.
Day 13	To Bishkek by car.
Day 14	Leisure day to do shopping, visit the Osh bazaar or museums. (Lunch not included in the tour price)
Day 15	Transfer to the airport for departure.

Because of unforeseen circumstances, it might be necessary to make small changes in the program. We ask for your understanding.

If you book with 4 persons or more, we offer a 5% discount.

In case there are less then 4 participants for this tour, you are requested to pay an additional 100 euro p.p. to make this tour individually or with a small group.

This year we offer several new thematic tours. In a thematic tour, the leading theme is a specific activity, like f.i. bird watching or a special aspect of our culture like felt making of festivals. New is a tour in which legends and tales are the central theme, a festival tour and a drawing and painting tour accompanied by a Dutch art teacher. In spring, when all fruit trees are blooming, we organise a blossom tour in the Talas region and around lake Issuk-Kol.

The Kyrgyz have not forgotten that for centuries the horse was the most precious animal in their nomadic lives. Even these days many families consider horses still very important this makes Kyrgyzstan supremely suitable for horse riding. Ecotour offers a great variety of adventures tours. On foot, horseback or by bicycle you can discover the mountains of Tian-Shan. There are programs for 2 or 3 weeks, some more difficult then the others. Our tours are not only for small groups but several tours can also be done individually.

As most of our yurt camps in the mountains are situated above 2000 m. weather can change a couple times a day. Therefore, even in summer it is a necessity to bring warm clothes and rain gear.

Our cooks have been trained to cope with different diets. Even if you need to have gluten free meals, this is possible at several of our tours.

Trekking and horse riding tours are the perfect way to see the ranges of Tian-Shan mountains and the life of the Kyrgyz.
