Humanitarian aid - very welcome

Since 1999 our guests support people in remote villages to alleviate their poverty.

We would like to express our gratitude to our guests for the direct aid and the initiatives to collect money for village schools, libraries, an orphanage and individual families living under hard and difficult conditions.

Many guests take clothes and other second-hand goods we distribute among the poorest of the mountain villages where we work.

We appreciate very much the commitment of our guests and wish to say "thank you" also in the name of the furthered families.

Money was collected in different ways: one family, for instance, allocated the proceeds of a yard sale, others send the earnings of a movie show on Kyrgyzstan and again others started a sponsoring action to enable a student to pay her university costs.

This year (2007) one of our guests donated the money received at her 50th birthday for more help to the children of handicapped parents.

From a sport organisation which got another sponsor, we received their old sport clothes because they needed clothes with another sponsor name on it.

Here is what we did with the contributions we received:

• The orphanage "Meerim Bulagy" received school things and sports equipment

• For the children of handicapped parents we could hand over school things for the first school day

• For the school in Tuura-Suu we were able to give school furniture for the lowest classes and educational means

• Also the school in Temir-Kanat we could help with educational means

• For the manager of Ak-Sai we placed money at his disposal so he could to buy a new fishing boat to make his living in the off-season period

• In 2004 we received from a Dutch grammar school 11 microscopes. We distributed them among the schools of Tuura-Suu, Kara-Talaa, Temir-Kanat and Ak-Say

• Earlier we had received an amount for books for the village library in Temir-Kanat, schoolbooks for Ak-Say as well as food for a few poor families

In 2006 guests collected money to pay for a prothese for one of the staffmembers who lost his leg.

In 2007 guests brought a great number of spectacles. On October 1, day of the elderly people, a doctor in Bishkek could distribute 60 pairs of glasses to 56 elderly people with a very low income and in need of those glasses.
