Blossom tour with a day of Tree planting in Kyrgyzstan
Date: April 23 –May 5. 2010
Price: 990 euro p.p., min. 4 persons
During this spring tour, you will visit two areas where many fruit trees are growing and, during this season, blossoming.
First, you will visit the area around Lake Issyk-Kul: in this time of the year, the apple and apricot trees are flowering. You will stay in two mountain villages in which the local community, together with Ecotour, shall plant trees to improve the environment. If you want, you can participate. Next on the program will be a visit to the village of Kochkor, known because of felt production. From Kochkor you will drive to Chaek, a village on the upper course of the river Chuy. You will drive through beautiful scenery but on a rather bad road crossing a pass of 2.600m. From Chaek you will drive through the valley of the Kökömeren River in the Suusamyr valley. Here, during summertime the landscape is crowded with yurts, but now it is still rather quiet. From here you will cross the Otmok pass to reach the region of Talas. In Talas there’ll be also many fruit trees growing and blooming. In the capital of this region, called Talas as well, you will spend two nights. You will visit the mausoleum and museum dedicated to Manas. Manas is the most famous person in Kyrgyz history. He was the one who united the Kyrgyz tribes and by initiating this, laid the foundation for the nation. In the afternoon there will be time to visit the bazaar and do some shopping. The route back to Bishkek is through a beautiful landscape again, except for the last part when approaching the capital. The last day is a day without set program; you can visit Bishkek on your own.
You will visit different parts of the country, some parts very seldom visited by tourists. You will get acquainted with the history and culture of Kyrgyzstan. If you are interested in the life and culture of the nomads, have a reasonable physical condition and do not expect luxury, this will be a very special destination.
An interpreter will be available during the whole tour. The maximum number of participants is 8. Transportation will be done by minibus, overnight stay guesthouse, B&B en with local families.
Everything is included in the price, except flight, visa and bottled drinks. A visa can be obtained upon arriving at the Airport. Prices of flights depend on the flight company, place of departure and date of booking. Till January 2010 it is possible to buy cheap flight tickets. (Amsterdam-Bishkek around 490 Euro).
