Women tour in Kyrgyzstan
A trip especially organised for women without fellow traveller
Date: June 24 – July 08, 2010
Price: 1.195 euro p.p.
Number of participants: 4-8 persons
These 2 weeks you are given the opportunity to get acquainted with the way of life of the Kyrgyz nomads.
You will stay in different yurt camps situated on the shore of lake Issyk-Kul as well as high in the mountains. You will visit workshops where women make felt products, you will see how a yurt is being built, and meet herdsmen who live with their family and animals on the summer pastures. You will make a stop at the Burana tower, a remnant of the Silk Road. In the villages Kochkor and Bokonbaevo you will visit women cooperative organisations where felt articles are produced. We will try to arrange meetings with Kyrgyz women, so you will hear more about their way of living and they can hear about life of women in Europe. In Bishkek you can visit museums, go shopping or look around on the Osh-bazaar. The last evening of your stay you will enjoy a farewell dinner and if there are enough visitors, a performance of professional musicians.
There will be plenty of time for walking during this tour. In 2 yurt camps there are horses and if you want to ride or learn to ride this is also possible.
During the whole tour you will be accompanied by an interpreter, who will help you to communicate with the local people and tell local legends. You will travel by mini bus.
If you are interested in nomadic culture, do not expect luxury, have a reasonable physical condition and some flexibility, this tour will be an unforgettable experience.
Everything is included in the tour price with the exception of the flight, visa and bottled beverages. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking. Until the end of 2009 it is possible to buy a two way ticket for about 480 euro.
