Meet the culture and the life of the Kyrgyz nomads. Sleep in a yurt, the felt house of the shepherds. In a number of villages you visit little workshops, where felt is manufactured. You will also make felt yourself and create a small shirdak and an alakiis, the traditional carpets.
Children will sing folksongs and play the traditional musical instruments. You can observe the preparation of kymys, the national drink that is made of mare milk.
In Bishkek, you will learn how to make embroidery on felt and you have an opportunity to visit museums and art galleries and if there are enough participants, you will enjoy the concert of a folklore-band. If you have special wishes, please contact us in advance, we will try to fit it into your program.
Still you will find plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent nature, to undertake nearly endless walks. If you like you can explore a bit of Kyrgyzstan riding on horseback or on a camel or you can go for a swim in a warm and dense lake.
You will visit shepherds and their families, who go to summer pastures high in the mountains with their cattle.
In Bishkek you stay in an unpretentious but nice hotel, on the countryside you live in yurt camps and B&B, where a local family takes care of you.
During the complete journey an English speaking interpreter is at your service.
This journey is suitable for people who are interested in the nomadic way of life and the culture of the Kyrgyz people. We expect you to be a little adventurous, to have an average physical condition and to find luxury unimportant.
