Horse riding from Issyk-Kul to Song-Kul

Date: July 26 – August 16 2010
Price: 1.790 euro p.p.

This 3-week tour is for experienced horse riders. You start at lake Issyk-Kul alt. 1600 m and end up in Son-Kul at 3100m. To make the tour we invite min. 4, max. 8 people. You have 8-14 horses for riding and for your luggage and food, and also the assistance of 2-4 good guides. When you stay in our yurt camp you sleep in yurts, during the trekking in small tents. You should bring sleeping bag, isomat, warm clothes and rain-coat. Your itinerary varies extremely, from green pastures to stony mountains.

You ride over three passes, the highest of them being 3.500 m. You are on horseback about 5-8 hours a day. A good physical condition is necessary. This tour is for the real lovers of nature, horses and adventure.

Everything is included in the tour price with the exception of the flight, visa and bottled beverages. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking. Until the end of 2009 it is possible to buy a two way ticket for about 480 euro.

Day 3	From Bishkek to yurt camp Ak-Say at the shore of Lake Issyk-Kol
Day 4	Relax on the beach, getting used to the new time zone and changes in altitude. Swimming, hiking
Day 5	Horse riding from Ak-Say village to Temir-Kanat at 2450 m
Days 6-7	Horse riding around Temir-Kanat, close to glaciers and around Temir-Kanat yurt camp.
Day 8	Horse riding from Temir-Kanat to Koltor homestay
Day 9	Horse riding from Koltor to yurt camp Tuura-Suu at 2250 m
Day 10	Horse riding around Tuura-Suu
Days 11-19	Horse trekking from Tuura-Suu to Song-Kol over 3 high passes around 3500m high.
Days 20	Horse riding in Son-Kol
Day 21	Transport back to Bishkek
Day 22	Departure

Because of unforeseen circumstances, it might be necessary to make small changes in the program. We ask for your understanding.

In case there are less than 4 participants for this tour, you are requested to pay an additional 150 euro p.p. to make this tour individually or with a small group.

This year we offer several new thematic tours. In a thematic tour, the leading theme is a specific activity, like f.i. bird watching or a special aspect of our culture like felt making of festivals. New is a tour in which legends and tales are the central theme, a festival tour and a drawing and painting tour accompanied by a Dutch art teacher. In spring, when all fruit trees are blooming, we organise a blossom tour in the Talas region and around lake Issuk-Kol.

The Kyrgyz have not forgotten that for centuries the horse was the most precious animal in their nomadic lives. Even these days many families consider horses still very important this makes Kyrgyzstan supremely suitable for horse riding. Ecotour offers a great variety of adventures tours. On foot, horseback or by bicycle you can discover the mountains of Tian-Shan. There are programs for 2 or 3 weeks, some more difficult then the others. Our tours are not only for small groups but several tours can also be done individually.

As most of our yurt camps in the mountains are situated above 2000 m. weather can change a couple times a day. Therefore, even in summer it is a necessity to bring warm clothes and rain gear.

Our cooks have been trained to cope with different diets. Even if you need to have gluten free meals, this is possible at several of our tours.

Trekking and horse riding tours are the perfect way to see the ranges of Tian-Shan mountains and the life of the Kyrgyz.
