Horse riding in Tong

Dates: June 11 - June 25, June 18 - July 2 and August 23 - September 6, 2010
Price: 1.250 euro p.p.
Number of participants: min. 4 persons

This 2-week tour is for people who like horse riding but have not got enough experience yet. A group consists of 4-8 people and 8-12 horses. There will be 2-4 good guides and an English-speaking interpreter is also present. You will sleep mostly in yurts in our yurt camps and two nights with a local family. You should bring along a sleeping bag, isomat, warm clothes and raincoat. Seven days you will be on horseback about 5-6 hours. You ride through green pastures along old animal tracks, sometimes using a dirt road. A good physical condition is necessary. Do not expect luxury, you live the life of Kyrgyz nomads. The average altitude is about 2.000 m.

Everything is included in the tour price with the exception of the flight, visa and bottled beverages. A visa can be obtained easily upon arrival at the airport in Bishkek. The price of the flight depends on the company you are flying with and the date of booking. Until the end of 2009 it is possible to buy a two way ticket for about 480 euro.

Itinerary:

On the different dates most likely the itinerary will not be the same. Because of logistic reasons, slight differences might occur.

Day 1	Departure
Day 2	Arrival in Bishkek, after lunch visit of the city
Day 3	From Bishkek to yurt camp Ak-Say at Lake Issyk- Kol (1600 m). Dry rigid area.
Day 4	Day to get used to altitude and different time zone in yurt camp Ak-Say, swimming, hiking.
Day 5	Horse riding from the village Ak-Say to yurt camp Temir-Kanat (2450m) around Tuura-Suu to small mountain lakes, visiting yurts of local families and drinking kymyz.
Day 6	Horse riding up to mountains about 3.100 m above sea level, close to glaciers and around Temir-Kanat camp.
Day 7	Horse riding to the village Koltor with two nights in a yurt of a local family or 2 nights home stay.
Day 8	Horse riding around Koltor
Day 9	Horse riding to Tuura-Suu yurt camp at 2.200m
Days 10-11	Horse riding around yurt camp Tuura-Suu
Day 12	From Tuura-Suu to the village Kara-Talaa on horseback, overnight stay with local family
Day 13	Drive to Bishkek, stay in guesthouse in the centre of the town
Day 14	Free day for shopping, visiting Osh bazaar etc. lunch not included
Day 15	Departure

If you book for 4 persons or more, we offer you 5% discount.

In case there are less then 4 participants for this tour, you are requested to pay an additional 100 euro p.p. to make this tour individually or with a small group.

Because of unforeseen circumstances, it might be necessary to make small changes in the program. We ask for your understanding.

New is a tour in which legends and tales are the central theme, a festival tour and a drawing and painting tour accompanied by a Dutch art teacher. In spring, when all fruit trees are blooming, we organise a blossom tour in the Talas region and around lake Issuk-Kol.

The Kyrgyz have not forgotten that for centuries the horse was the most precious animal in their nomadic lives. Even these days many families consider horses still very important this makes Kyrgyzstan supremely suitable for horse riding. Ecotour offers a great variety of adventures tours. On foot, horseback or by bicycle you can discover the mountains of Tian-Shan. There are programs for 2 or 3 weeks, some more difficult then the others. Our tours are not only for small groups but several tours can also be done individually.

As most of our yurt camps in the mountains are situated above 2000 m. weather can change a couple times a day. Therefore, even in summer it is a necessity to bring warm clothes and rain gear.

Our cooks have been trained to cope with different diets. Even if you need to have gluten free meals, this is possible at several of our tours.

Trekking and horse riding tours are the perfect way to see the ranges of Tian-Shan mountains and the life of the Kyrgyz.
