Our yurt camps

In cooperation with local people we have organised a small net of 6 yurt camps (4-7 yurts per camp). We offer cultural and adventurous tours starting from these camps, like horse riding, arts and crafts, and hiking. Our guests can pick a yurt camp of their liking and we can inform them about the activities that are organised from this particular camp. By combining several camps in a time span of 2 or 3 weeks, guests can thus enjoy the different scenery and different activities from these different yurt camps. We will gladly assist each guest in composing a tour to her/his liking. This is our basic program. Please ask the questionnaire in which you mark your wish. Also it is possible to combine one special tour (for example horse riding or textile) with stay in one or two yurt camps you like. Most of our guests have a three weeks` holiday since the places are surrounded by different landscapes and offer different activities.

In the different yurt camps you can spend a few days, here we do not organize your whole day, we just recommend possible activities in the area. So whether to walk or to ride on horseback with guides or to have a rest in a yurt is your decision only.

We recommend to start your holiday at Issyk-Kul lake where you have one or two days to relax and to get used to the altitude, the climate and the time difference. The stays in the mountain camps can be interrupted by a short stay at Issyk-Kul lake. So, your first yurt camps at the south shore are Ak-Sai or Kara-Talaa where the land is dry and barren (the landscape is semi-desert) and this is a contrast to wet and green Europe. On the north side of the lake we have the possibility to stay in Bosteri. In Ak-Sai you enjoy quietness and space. Although Kara-Talaa yurt camp is close to a main road, all our guests like to stay there because of its hospitality and variety tasty meals. Stay in Bosteri gives you the opportunity to visit Cholpon- Ata and see the petroglyphes drawn by the Skytes.

The nearest yurt camps to Ak-Sai and Kara-Talaa are Temir-Kanat (2,400 m above see level) and Tuura-Suu (2,200 m) where you realise what the real nomadic lifestyle is. You will remember forever several yurts and very nice people in small mountain valleys without any trees but full of edelweiss and other mountain flowers. There is a marvellous view on Issyk-Kul lake from Temir-Kanat yurt camp. You listen to the sounds of Kyrgyz musical instruments, accompanied songs of children in the last evening in Tuura-Suu. Most of our guests get new experience of horse riding in these yurt camps while good riders say that they are here because of horses and enjoy riding up to 3,000 m and higher. In mountains you visit yurts of some local families and feel the taste of fresh kymyz - the famous national drink made of mare`s milk and see how it is prepared.

Along the road to Jeti-Oguz yurt camp (2250 m) you admire a great splintered hill called "Broken Heart" and behind this there is an extraordinary formation of red sandstone cliffs called "Jeti-Oguz" (it means Seven Bulls). The yurt camp is located in a small valley in fir forest. Kyrgyzstan with some parts like this forest landscape reminds people of Switzerland. This region is famous and very popular, here you can meet tourists from all over the world and Kyrgyz people coming to rest for a short time. In the yurt camp we offer hiking tours. Some of our guests visit the Jeti-Oguz health resort and enjoy swimming in a pool with radon hot water and massage. We have to draw your attention to the climate in the region, it is in the east of Issyk-Kul lake which is well-watered by air masses, so be ready for rainy weather.

One of the country's jewels is tiny Song-Kul lake (3016 m above sea level, 29 km long and 18 km wide) - the second largest lake after Issyk-Kul. The lake and shore are part of Song-Kul zoological reserve. Our Song-Kul yurt camp (3100 m) is on the south of the lake and the endless beautiful sights from it truly soothe the soul and banish stress. In the summer the grassland is dotted with traditional yurts. On horseback or by foot you can take a lot of photos of stunning scenery to remember forever. Because of the altitude, this is the coldest place, the weather changes several times a day, the temperature sometimes can be below zero at night even in July and August.

Our yurt camps are waiting for you from June to September.

See for yourself the majestic mountains with Kyrgyz yurts.

In our yurt camps...
we provide an appropriate comfort that does not violate traditional norms. Small hydro power plants supply the yurts with lighting in Temir-Kanat, as there is a mountain river there.

Ak-Sai

In other camps for lighting we use oil lamps and candles that give romantic atmosphere in the evenings.

Solar panels supply warm water for washing in Temir-Kanat if there are no clouds in the sky during the day time. In the other yurt camps you can ask for warm water to use for the camping showers. Wash-basins and toilets are installed in huts made of local building materials like stone and wood.

Our staff is one or two local families. Our cooks offer you traditional meals and all our guests like it very much and have no stomach problems because we use fresh local biologically produced food. Our cooks have been trained to cope with different diets. Even if you need to have gluten free meals, this is possible at several of our tours.

Temir-Kanat

With great pleasure our guides show you our beautiful country and also assist you with the horses which are available in Temir-Kanat, Tuura-Suu and Song-Kol yurt camps.

Our English or German speaking interpreters help you to contact local people and tell old Kyrgyz legends and stories.

Jeti-Oguz

For sleeping, we have traditional beds, which means a bed on the floor, for everyone there are two or three mattresses and two cotton blankets and clean washed sheets.

However we recommend to bring a sleeping-bag to sleep more comfortably if the night is cold.

Song-Kol

...and in our capital Bishkek...

you sleep in our new nice guesthouse, situated not far from the centre of the city. Bishkek is a “green” town with many parks. All tours start and end in Bishkek. Here you can go shopping, visit the Osh- bazaar or a museum and enjoy a drink on one of the numerous terraces in the parks. Kyrgyzstan has a continental climate; this means that in summer in Bishkek it can be very warm. In the mountains, however temperature stays nice even in midsummer.

... feel the famous Kyrgyz hospitality.
