In the mountains you can go for a hike, ride a horse or pay a visit to the nomadic families who live in the mountain pastures during the summer.

During both treks you will sleep in small tents. You need to bring your own warm sleeping bag and iso-mattress. Tents and other camping equipment will be provided. Here the car will wait for you to bring you to a yurt camp near the shore of the lake. Next day is a rest day to swim or visit Manjyly-Ata, a traditional sacred place of the Kyrgyz. Then it is on to Karakol, to start the 5 day trek to Altyn-Arashan and Altyn-Kul lake. From here along the north side of the lake you return to Bishkek.

Mountain passes, bad tracks, off-road, and firm climbs over 3000 m characterize this route.
Not all slopes are steep, but some are very long and on dirt roads.
But it is worth the effort.
