We can give our warm recommendations to anyone considering going to Kyrgyzstan in general, and with Ecotour in particular! We spent two weeks in some of Ecotour's yurt camps, and it was a highly memorable experience. Ecotour was very flexible and had arranged a programme that suited our wishes perfectly.

Today it is already more than a month ago that we left Kyrgyzstan, but it is still every day that we think about our wonderful time we spent there. One of the things mostly staying in our mind is that from the very beginning we felt we were your personal guests where ever we are staying. That kind of hospitality is unique.

New: Trekking in Tong and Ala Archa National Park

Dates: 21/7 – 4/08 2020.

Price 1595-euro p.p.for 4 or more participants.

This new two-week programme comprises 2 individual treks. The first trek, in the Tong district, is not so difficult. The second trek in Ala Archa National Park is, however, very hard and only suitable for people who have experience in hiking in rough mountains. You do not need cramps and ropes, but you should not feel uncomfortable on steep slopes. The programme starts with a trek of 3 days near Lake Issyk- Kul, and you will cross a pass of 3350m before arriving at a yurt camp at 2450m on the 3rd day. The next trek of 6 days starts from Bishkek. On the last day of the trek you will ascend Uchitel Peak, altitude 4450m.

During the treks you will stay mostly in tents. Luggage is carried on horseback for the first trek and by porters for the second trek. You should be in good physical condition, experienced in hiking in high mountains and have no fear of heights.

Walking days are usually between 4 and 8 hours. The group consists of 4-8 people, guides, porters or horsemen and an English-speaking interpreter. You have to carry your own daypack and help in putting up tents for the night. You need to bring a warm sleeping bag, isomat, warm clothes, waterproof clothing and very comfortable walking shoes.

Programme

Day 1: Departure from your home airport.

Day 2: Arrival at Manas Airport where we will meet you and take you to your hotel in Bishkek. After lunch, sightseeing around Bishkek with a guide/interpreter. Bishkek is a rather new town built mostly in the Soviet style with wide boulevards, many parks and numerous terraces. Stay in hotel.

Day 5: Hiking to Bel-Tam, slowly climbing to the pass at 3335m, and crossing a small river on foot or on horse. Camping at 2400m (17.5 km).

Day 6: A longer hike today hike up to 2900m, and then descend to the yurt camp Temir-Kanat at 2450m (21km). Stay in yurt.

Day 8: Drive to Bokonbaevo to meet a man who hunts with golden eagles. He will bring one of his birds and tell about eagle hunting. For the second trek we now return to Bishkek. Not far from the town of Tokmok we will stop to visit the Burana Tower, an architectural complex from the 10th century that has survived from the times of the Great Silk Road. In the middle-ages it was a city of Balasagun, the capital of the Karachanid Khaganate, a Turkish dynasty of that time. We will see the 24 metre minaret and mausoleums that have been reconstructed, and also see Balbals, gravestones from the middle ages. Stay in B&B.
