Kirgizstan mit kleinen Kindern

Kyrgyzstan for juniors

15-day tour, since 2000

Especially for families with young children

Our guides will ensure that all the activities are appropriate for your children, however young they may be

Young children love hiding in the forests, running across meadows, riding gentle horses whilst holding onto a horseman or parent, and especially swimming in a lake from a sandy beach and seeing the snow-capped mountains in the distance

About tour

For a family holiday Kyrgyzstan is a very special destination. And Ecotour has many years’ experience in organizing tours for families with children ensuring there are many interesting things for young visitors to see and do whilst they are here.

You will visit 3 yurt camps situated in different landscapes, and will stay in the mountains and close to beautiful mountain lakes. These locations vary in altitude from 1.600 to 2.450 m. For children there are all kind of activities – swimming, hiking, horse riding or learning to ride on the small Kyrgyz horses. In each yurt camp there are Kyrgyz children of all ages who will enjoy being with and playing with your children. New friendships will be made that will be remembered by your children, and maybe even you, far into the future.

In Bishkek you will stay at the Umai Hotel (or similar) located near the centre of the city, and in the mountains, you will stay in yurts, nomadic dwelling made of felt, and guesthouses (B&Bs). In each yurt camp a local family will take care of your needs whilst you are there. Transportation will be by minibus and a guide/interpreter (English or German) will accompany you during the whole trip.

Day 1Departure from your local airport.
Day 2Arrival at Manas Airport where you will be met and taken to your hotel. After a rest and a light lunch some sightseeing around Bishkek. Bishkek is a relatively new city built mostly in the Soviet style with wide boulevards, many parks and numerous terraces. We will visit the Old Square from where we can walk through the oldest park in Bishkek, Oak Park, to the main square, Ala-Too. Passing by the National Opera and Ballet Theatre we will get to Victory Square, built for the 40th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (Second World War). We can also visit the Panfilov amusement park for children. Stay in hotel.
Day 3By minibus to the Temir-Kanat yurt camp situated in the mountains at 2.450 m. On route visit the Burana Tower, a remnant of an old Silk Road Town. The tower is part of the minaret of the town of Balasagun, capital of the Karahanids in the 11th century. In 1974 the tower was partly restored and now we will be able to climb up inside the tower and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Around the tower we find Balbals (gravestones) from between the 6th and 10th centuries. The newly built small museum contains more artifacts collected in this area. Stay in yurt.
Day 4-5Stay in Temir-Kanat. Horse riding, hiking in the area and visiting the herdsmen living in pastures with their livestock. We can taste their traditional drink, kymyz, made of mare’s milk, and cook a traditional meal with the family in the yurt camp. Watch some local games played on horseback. Stay in yurt.
Day 6Down to the Manjyly yurt camp close to the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. This yurt camp is located in a dry, semi- desert area. In the afternoon we will go swimming in the lake or hike in the badlands. Stay in yurt.
Day 7Full day in Manjyly. Swimming in the lake, hike in the badlands and an opportunity for children to have fun on the shore playing with sand. Stay in yurt.

Mountain passes, bad tracks, off-road, and firm climbs over 3000 m characterize this route.
Not all slopes are steep, but some are very long and on dirt roads.
But it is worth the effort.
